This year is Amazon.com‘s 3rd annual Prime Day. This has become an annual online Amazon shopping event with deals to rival that of Black Friday. We can all score some amazing deals so here is how we can prepare and get ready for Prime Day 2017.

When Is It?

Prime Day officially starts July 11, 2017 with some deals available as early as 6pm ET July 10. Specific deals can be watched starting July 9 – up to 24 hours before they are live. Customers can also get exclusive deal reveals by going to amazon.com/primeday starting July 5. Plus, special offers will be available in the days leading up to Prime Day:

  • July 5 – Voice Shopping
  • July 6 – Amazon Music
  • July 7 – Prime Video
  • July 8 – Everyday Essentials
  • July 9 – Reading with Prime

How Can I get the Deals?

First things first, you must be an Amazon Prime member to score the deals. Not a member? Not to worry, you can still sign up for a 30 day free trial and still be eligible to purchase all the exclusive deals.

Next, Amazon suggests downloading the free Amazon App so that you’ll never miss a deal. The app however will allow you to view the upcoming deals 24 hours before they are live and click “watch this deal.” The app will then send you a phone notification when that deal is starting. You can also watch videos here showing more how the app works for Prime Day.  Don have a mobile device? Set up Amazon Assistant on you PC to help you watch for deals.

Amazon will be organizing all their deals by the most shopped for themes so customers can find what they’re interested in faster. And if you happen to miss a deal, you can join the waitlist so if it becomes available again you will receive a notification.

In addition, Prime members with an Alexa device such as the Amazon Echo will have access to exclusive Alexa Prime Day voice shopping deals.

What Types of Deals Can I Expect?

There will be 2 major types of deals. These are Spotlight Deals and Lightning Deals. Spotlight deals will feature top brands and popular items that will last until stock is gone. Lightning deals will be watchable 24 hours ahead of time but will only run for a limited time and with limited quantities. New lightning deals will be available as often as every 5 minutes. Both of these deals can be accessed at amazon.com/primeday.

In addition those with Prime Now available in their area will be able to access additional deals that can be delivered in one hour.

Plus, here are a few of the offers that are being featured leading up to Prime Day:

8 Ways to Save on TOMS Shoes

Disclosure: This site may receive commissions for products and services purchased through affiliate links in this post.

If you are like me, you love TOMS. In fact you love them so much that you own no less than a dozen pairs and wear them everyday (including at your wedding). But TOMS can be expensive, blah. Some might say that’s the price we pay for cuteness. But being the money savvy person I am, I refuse to accept that. Here are 8 ways to save on TOMS shoes.

save on toms shoes

1. Join Passport Rewards

Did you know TOMS has a loyalty program? Their Passport Rewards program is free to join online and allows you to earn “stamps” from your purchases. They award 1 stamp per every dollar you spend on the TOMS website. Not only that, but you can earn additional stamps through various social media activities (such as following them on Twitter), and even just opening and reading their marketing emails. Stamps can be redeemed for rewards such as classic TOMS shoes or discounts like 10% or 25% off your order. Not only that, but by being a member they will normally send you a welcome email with a discount code, emails for your birthday with a discount code, and promotional emails letting you know of current sales.

2. Sign Up For Their Email List

TOMS many times will send you a discount code (usually 10% off) just for signing up for their email list. Plus, you will periodically receive emails letting you know of current sales and promotions.

3. Refer a Friend

TOMS will allow you to earn credits towards your future purchases by referring a friend. For every friend you refer that is a new customer you can earn a $20 credit, plus your friend will earn a discount code to use on their purchase by redeeming your referral. And if you have never purchased on TOMS website before and are looking for an easy discount code, you can click on my referral link here.

4. Utilize Free Shipping Codes

We all know the cost of shipping can add a hefty cost to your total. But luckily, TOMS typically will offer free shipping promotions. These promotions usually come in the form of free shipping after meeting a spend threshold of $65+, but sometimes they offer free shipping on every order!

5. Clearance Styles

Just like any other store, TOMS will clearance out some of their styles. The best sale items come at the end of the season when they are moving out stock. And it usually helps to wear an odd size (such as very large or very small sizes), but it you find something, there are savings to be had. Do note that you typically cannot use discount codes towards sale or clearance items.

6. TOMS Warehouse Sale

TOMS periodically puts on their Warehouse Sale events in major cities. At these events they discount their items up to 70% off! You can expect to find off season styles here (for example winter styles from the previous season being sold at summer events). My favorite are the deals on winter boots. I paid $35 for a new pair of wedges normally costing about $89. You can see what events are coming up here, and sign up for their email list to notify you when an event is coming to your area.

7. Shop On Amazon

By shopping on Amazon you can typically find discounted TOMS shoes along with everything else. Prices and styles will vary, but it’s always worth it to take a look.

8. Rebates and Coupon Codes

Last but not least, you can always attempt to save a few extra bucks by shopping TOMS through a rebate site such as Ebates. Currently, at the time of writing, Ebates is offering 4% cashback on TOMS. (You can learn more about Ebates in this post). Also, as a last ditch effort try using SaveHoney to find any additional coupon codes you can apply at checkout. (You can learn more about SaveHoney here).

6 Best Places to Coupon for Diapers

Disclosure: This site may receive commissions for products and services purchased through affiliate links in this post

Of all the baby expenses out there, diapers are most definitely the most prominent. And unless you’re using cloth diapers (I say more power to you!) then you are always going out and buying diapers and praying for the day your child is potty trained. And we all know diapers are not cheap either. But what can we do? We gotta buy those suckers. Luckily with couponing we can effectively cut those diaper costs in half! (We can also save for baby in other ways in this post.) Here are the 6 best places to coupon for diapers (in no particular order).

Target

Target can be a great place to coupon for diapers. They frequently run gift card deals in their weekly ad on big boxes of the major brands of diapers like Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs nearly every week. Plus, they are known to throw in some of their Up & Up brand and even Honest Company every now and again. They also will frequently include store coupons that will get you gift cards for spending thresholds on baby items. Use these deals on top of any manufacturer coupons, cartwheel deals, and REDcard (just another reason why you need REDcard).  And on the cartwheel note, their perks frequently include redemptions for diapers or wipes (learn more about cartwheel here and here). To learn more about couponing at Target visit this post.

CVS

CVS is another store that frequently runs promotions on baby items. These include jumbo packs of the major brands Huggies and Pampers. By stacking manufacturer coupons, store coupons, and Extrabucks, you can significantly reduce your diaper costs. You can learn more about the ins and outs of CVS couponing here.

Walmart

I know, no one likes shopping at Walmart, but we can’t ignore the fact that they offer some of the lowest prices around, even on baby items. Use manufacturer coupons on the major brands, as well as price matching and their Saving Catcher App to make sure you’re always getting the lowest price. Read here for more tips about couponing at Walmart.

Rite Aid

Rite Aid will frequently run promotions on their baby items making it easy to get cheap jumbo packs of Pampers, Huggies, or their Tugaboos store brand. Of course use manufacturer coupons, store coupons, and Plenti points to score these great deals. Read more about Rite Aid couponing in this post.

Walgreens

Walgreens is yet another pharmacy that offers great diaper deals. Stack manufacturer coupons, store coupons, balance rewards points, and register rewards on jumbo packs of Huggies and Pampers. Plus they offer great deals on a variety of other baby essentials. See this post for more on couponing at Walgreens.

Amazon

For the online shopper, Amazon is THE place for diapers. Members of Amazon Prime can enroll in Amazon Family for free. This essentially saves you 20% on any diaper subscription offered through Amazon Subscribe & Save. It doesn’t get much cheaper than that online. And if you don’t have a Prime membership you can still take advantage of the low online prices Amazon offers (psst, family members can give you the gift of Prime). To learn more about Amazon Prime and Subscribe & Save read here and here.

wedding registries benefits

8 Best Wedding Registries Benefits

Disclosure: This site may receive commissions for products and services purchased through affiliate links in this post.

When a lot of couples get engaged they are super excited to register for some free gifts (believe me, I was, too). But what a lot of couples don’t know is that some registries have better benefits than others. Some of these benefits include free gifts, completion discounts, and rewards programs for more free stuff. However, it is in bad taste to register at every single available store. So here are the 8 best wedding registries benefits, in alphabetical order, to help you decide which ones are best for you:

1. Amazon

I know, I know, I talk about Amazon a lot. But it can’t be denied that Amazon is a behemoth in the online shopping world, so why shouldn’t they have a wedding registry feature? I mean they practically have everything else (including a baby registry which you can read more about in this post). Here are a few of the perks of Amazon’s Wedding Registry:

  • A one time completion discount of 20% for Prime members and 10% for everyone else on items sold by Amazon good for 90 days after your event date.
  • 180 days to return any items gifted from your registry and sold by Amazon.
  • A slew of bonus offers and gifts viewable here.
  • The ability to install the Universal Registry Button on your browser to add any item online to your Amazon Registry (not just items available on Amazon).

2. Bed, Bath, & Beyond

Ah, good ole’ Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Practically the leader in wedding registries these days. Who doesn’t know at least 1 person who registered for their wedding there? And for good reason. Check out BBB’s Wedding Registry perks:

  • one 10% completion coupon for both in store and online good for up to 3 months after your event.
  • Hassle free returns on gift items up to 365 days after purchase.
  • Bridal Freebook which offers multiple bonus gifts viewable here. (But don’t forget to redeem. I realized too late after the fact I actually qualified for a bonus gift, oops.)
  • The Rock Your Registry event that occurs in store and provides couples personal consultants to help create or maintain their registry. In addition the event typically provides snacks and a goody bag to take home. (We also did this one and came out with some decent stuff including a set of KitchenAid utensils.)

3. Crate & Barrel

wedding registries benefits

Crate & Barrel’s weeding registry app

I’m not gonna lie, Crate & Barrel was probably my favorite place that I registered at. I mean look at all the neat kitchen stuff they carry! Not to mention my kitchen is now filled with all of their white serving platters gifted to me from my registry (at surprisingly reasonable prices). And while a physical store may not be available near you, couples can still create a registry online. Here are a few other Crate & Barrel Wedding Registry incentives:

  • A 10% off completion discount good for multiple uses for 6 months after your event. (I actually used this to purchase gifts off of someone else’s registry, too!)
  • Easy and convenient returns within 90 days of purchase.
  • A special gift of 2 Crate & Barrel stemless wine glasses when you register in store. (We took advantage of this and received nice quality glasses.)
  • A bonus gift program including more than 14 brands viewable here.
  • A Private Registry Event that occurs in store just for engaged couples to create their registry – and usually includes drinks and snacks.

4. Kohl’s

If you’re already a Kohl’s fanatic, then this may be the registry for you. On top of some already nice discounts and coupons, the Kohl’s Wedding Registry also offers:

  • A 15% off completion offer good for 3 months after your event.
  • Kohl’s everyday Hassle-Free Returns.
  • Free gift offers viewable here.
  • Automatic enrollment in the Ever-After Rewards program that earns you 10% back in rewards on items purchased from your registry.
  • Announcement cards for your guests that include a 20% off $100 in store purchase from your registry.

5. Macy’s

Macy’s is considered one of the best places to register due to their extensive rewards program. Perks of the Macy’s Wedding Registry include:

  • 20% off completion discount on remaining registry items and 10% off on furniture, mattresses, and rugs good for multiple uses for 6 months after your event.
  • Macy’s everyday Return Policy for returns within 1 year of purchase.
  • An exclusive savings packet available in store viewable here.
  • Macy’s Registry Star Rewards that earns 5%-10% rewards on items purchased from your registry as well as purchases you make in store. (Note: this program requires enrollment for the Macy’s store credit card.)
  • Sip and Scan Registry Events that occur in store to help couples create their registry.

6. Target

Again, Target is one of my favorite places to coupon, well and just to shop period. Because who doesn’t love budget-friendly Tarjay? All the more reason to register there, too. The Target Wedding Registry benefits include:

  • A one time 15% completion discount.
  • Easy returns up to a year after your event.
  • A variety of bonus gifts viewable here.
  • The opportunity for group gifting.

7. Williams-Sonoma

Looking for items that are a little more high-end? Williams-Sonoma has your back. Not only that, but the Williams-Sonoma Wedding Registry has some great perks:

  • A 10% of completion discount good for unlimited uses for 6 months after your event.
  • Williams-Sonoma everyday Return Policy.
  • Several bonus gifts viewable here.
  • Gift cards and returned merchandise credit  that are also good for use at West Elm & Pottery Barn (if you’re also into those stores).
  • Automatic entry into a Monthly Sweepstakes to win everything on your registry up to $1000.
  • The Store is Yours event occurring in store for couples to create their registry with assistance and refreshments.

8. Zola

wedding registries benefits

Zola’s Wedding Registry

Zola is a unique online registry website. Couples are able to add items from Zola’s online collection or any other store, as well as a honeymoon fund and unique experiences. Pretty much anything the couple wants to register for. Other benefits of Zola Wedding Registry include:

So which wedding registry are you most excited for?

Top 4 Gifts for Couponers

Disclosure: This site may receive commissions for products and services purchased through affiliate links in this post.

Ah, it’s the time of year where gift giving is abundant. But what do you get for the couponer or money saver in your life? Or maybe, you’re the couponer, but you’re not sure what would be good to ask for. Personally, I love to ask to for those things that aid me in my money saving endeavors. Here are the top 4 gifts for couponers and couponing.

1. Amazon Prime

I rave about Amazon Prime for couponing. How could I not? The fact is that is comes with more benefits than just the free 2 day shipping (read all about Amazon Prime benefits here). But I totally understand not wanting to pay the $99 yearly membership fee for access to these great benefits. That’s why it makes a great gift to give or ask for. Plus, when you Give the Gift of Prime, the subscription automatically cancels after 1 year. There are no automatic renewals to worry about. And if your recipient already has Prime, they have the option of exchanging the gift for an Amazon.com gift card (read more about exchanging here).

Not prepared to shell out or ask for the whole $99? Totally understandable. But you can still contribute towards a Prime subscription by gifting an Amazon.com gift card. While users cannot use gift cards to subscribe to Prime on their own account, they can, however, use gift cards to Give the Gift of Prime to themselves. Users simply send the gift to themselves for redemption (it works, I’ve done it).

2. Gift Cards

Gift cards are kind of a no brainer for anyone. But as a couponer I always like to ask for gift cards to the stores I like couponing at, for example CVS or Target. Receiving these gift cards helps to support my “habit.”

gifts for couponers

A great way for gifting gift cards is to purchase them at a discount through a site like Raise. Raise is a marketplace for people to sell their unused gift cards at a discount to others who may want them. If this option interests you, you can use this link to receive $5 off your first purchase. You can also learn more about Raise in this post.

3. Sunday Newspaper Subscription

gifts for couponers

Every couponer knows that the best coupons come in the Sunday newspaper. And unfortunately, that newspaper is not free. This is why gifting a Sunday paper subscription is a great option for the couponer in your life. And if they already have a subscription? I don’t know any couponer that would refuse the opportunity for a free extra subscription for the benefit of getting extra coupons every week (myself included). You can look through options of discounted newspaper subscriptions online here.

4. CosTCO or Sam’s Club Membership

gifts for couponers

While I personally do not utilize a warehouse store membership myself, that doesn’t mean there are not great deals to be had there. For instance, you can read here about some of the best items to get at Costco. Plus, these stores typically offer big discounts on electronics, prescriptions, and of course gasoline. And if you think you or your money saving friend could benefit from a membership, then it’s a great gift! Costco offers their Gold Star gift membership for $55, and Sam’s Club offers their gift membership for $45. Both of these can be purchased online and redeemed in store by the recipient.
